When being the dependable one becomes exhausting.

You may be the person others rely on to make decisions, solve problems and keep things moving. But what happens when you are carrying too much, finding it difficult to let go, or wondering what comes next?

Join this 90-minute online workshop exploring the human side of leadership through the stories of Elijah and Elisha, with practical reflection on expectations, personal capacity, delegation and preparing for what comes next.

The biblical narratives provide the foundation. The focus is on understanding yourself, reflecting on how you lead and identifying practical steps you can take forward.

What we'll explore

  1. 1.

    The person behind the leader

Leadership is not just about the role you hold or the decisions you make. It is also about the person carrying the responsibility.

Through Elijah's experience in 1 Kings 19, we will reflect on expectations, pressure, exhaustion and the importance of recognising our own limits.

  2. 2.

Knowing what is yours to carry

Being responsible does not mean being responsible for everything.

We will explore how expectations and the pressure to solve every problem can affect our judgement, relationships and capacity, and consider what may need to change.

  3. 3.

    Letting go and developing others

Delegation is not simply handing over a task. It involves trust, clear expectations, appropriate support and allowing others to take responsibility.

Through the story of Elijah and Elisha, we will reflect on what it takes to prepare others and share responsibility without automatically taking the work back.

  4. 4.

    Preparing for what comes next

Leadership also involves thinking beyond the immediate task or role.

We will consider succession, knowledge transfer, legacy and the next chapter, whether that means a change in role, preparing others to lead or thinking about retirement.

Who is this for?

This session is for men and women who lead, manage people, run a business or carry significant responsibility.

It may be particularly useful if:

  • People rely heavily on you to make things happen.
  • You find it difficult to delegate or let others do things differently.
  • You feel responsible for solving problems that others could take on.
  • You are thinking about developing successors, leaving a role or preparing for a new chapter.

You do not need to be a biblical scholar or have a particular level of faith to attend. The session uses biblical narratives as a foundation for practical leadership and personal development.

What you'll leave with

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Reflect on the expectations and responsibilities you carry.
  • Identify one area of your leadership that needs attention.
  • Consider how you might share responsibility or develop others.
  • Choose a practical next step to take into your working life.

This is an introductory workshop, not a comprehensive leadership course. It is designed to give you useful insights and a starting point for further reflection.
